Vernon resident Scott Pierson, 57, was arrested on July 19 and charged with receipt and possession of child pornography, John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced.

The United States Department of Transportation-Office of Inspector General received information in March that Pierson, an FAA administrator stationed at the Bradley Flight Standards District Office in Enfield, was using his FAA-issued laptop to access websites with child porn. Further investigation into the laptop found that Pierson allegedly downloaded and maintained hundreds of sexually explicit images and videos of children.

A search of Pierson’s home and office last week led to the seizure of several computers, cellphones and thumb drives, leading to his arrest. If found guilty of possession of child pornography, Pierson faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He is due to appear in court at a later date.
